Finally, I got to watch this year’s Queen (The Hermes of gay pageants). Thanks to Elena for the tickets!

Queen, with the tagline “A Pageant for Alternatives” is one, if not the most BONGGANG-BONGGANG peagent production in Cebu. The said pageant is for the benefit of Clothes for Life’s outreach and charity efforts.

Clothes for Life is a charitable organization composed of fashion designers, make-up artists, hairdressers, stylists, modeling agencies, fashion accessory & apparel companies, industry friends and supporters that pool talent, time and resources in providing assistance to calamity victims and indigents through fund-raising activities like fashion shows, bazaars & other events showcasing & promoting the members’ services & products.

Got super excited this year knowing that Bianca Valerio, my favorite fashion model/host/MUA is one of the host for Queen this year. She’s so damn beautiful and funny - baklang bakla!

Multi-talented Jude Bacalso opened the the show and was one of the main host of the pageant, together with guy host (sorry forgot his name) that handled the Spain portion of the show. This year’s theme was travel, highlighting Spain, Japan and China. Stage was beautifully decorated by Nancy Roble.

The pageant pushed the show a notch higher by inviting Boy Abunda to handle the informal Q&A portion of the pageant. Some of his unorthodox pageant question was… How important is sex and if you spit or swallow. Jude Bacalso gave a kinky answer with… gargle.

Miss Egypt was my favorite among the national costume, Queen Nephertine w/ matching columns. 

The night was full of celebrities with Divine Lee, Victor Basa, Angel Aquino and Meriam Quiambao as judges. Rica Paras of PBB was also present and socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdez.

EXTRAVAGANT - would be the right word to describe my whole QUEEN experience. From the moment you enter the lobby of Waterfront, you’ll be able to see stunning beckies that just stood out and contestants that were absolutely gorgeous.
