Let me start this post with a wonderful thought I found on twitter: Again I say: Believe the best about people. Pray for their short comings. You are not the standard. We all need grace.
I’ve always believed in the good side of a person. yes, I tend to judge but I never take the oppurtunity out of people to allow themselves or myself to learn more about them. we’re all guilty of making impressions from other people as our own, we tend to forget were different. Although its good to be warned but its never a good thing to be clouded by others thoughts about others.
I’ve been getting negative vibes about this person that I work with, what sucks is that it is hard to ignore that person or completely not talk to that person. that’s just how I deal. It’s extremely making me feel so uncomfortable to be with a person that have negative feelings about, more so having to carry this negativity inside me. The idea of acting ‘civil’, is not my cup of tea. Honestly.
Good thing I came across that tweet. Made me realize that the only way to battle whatever is im feeling inside is to pray. Pray for others shortcomings and be humble enough to set aside things that aren’t important and focus on what is important which is myself, my work, and what I can give back to those who are good around me. There are probably things that I don’t understand and that are not explained to me.
So I’m hoping that tomorrow would be a new beginning, nothing of that negativiy that I’m feeling and carrying around. And I really hope that I can start sleeping before 11pm, I wanna wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and well rested.
During Holy Week, I’m usually off with friends to my favorite island paradise Bantayan. But this year, I had to be sent off to the ultimate party island paradise of Boracay. It was my first time to travel alone in the island and I haven’t been there since i was little. Good thing I found few friends who were on their way to the island, and had a chance to insert a little R&R and partying during my stay.
Took a Kalibo flight on my way to the Island through AirPhil Express. Almost got left by the plane because it said that boarding time was 1:40PM but they already closed the doors by 1:30PM. Wooossaaah AirPhil.

First time in Kalibo and the road trip from Kalibo to Caticlan was like going up north, with the vast fields and then the site of the sea.

Had dinner with Chris, who was in the island for a solo vacation. Took him to Big Mama’s beside Starbucks and enjoyed late dinner. He had alcohol and as you can see, I had about 3 cans of soda.. it was so damn hot, I wanted to drink something cold non-stop.
If you’re looking for cheaper meals by the shore, Big Mama’s is the place. Their meals won’t exceed Php 200.00 and their value meals are priced at Php 75.00 up.
I got to try their Adobo and Bicol Express, which was AWWWEEESSSOOOMMMEE. Their grilled chicken was a 3 to a 10.
I couldn’t stay out too long since I was housed above our store and I was responsible for the keys. I had to remind myself that, I was still working even if I was surrounded by people who were on vacation.

Boracay is quite strict with it’s precious beach now, so you wouldn’t be able to see sandcastles built for everyone to take a photo of. That night, someone made a boracay sandcastle and I took a quick snapshot of it before he’d ask for a “tip”. hahaha

Hello workywork. These are my walking promo girls who did ahuummaazing! I love the boracay staff, their all just intense and are pretty good at handling customers.

Our pretty summer ready Boracay outlets!

Except for the slight instances of stress due to work responsibilities, it’s always fun to work at Islands. =)
Forgot my sunnies, so I bought 2 from the stalls outside one of our branches and haggled til I got two items for half it’s selling price.
Never go to boracay without your sunblock and sunnies, it’s tantamount to not bringing undies, you’d feel naked!

I did mention that I went out that night, partied at epic and had beer pong with Bensons aka Kapatid’s office mates.

with Chris and Kapatids

There’s just too many restaurants in Boracay but most of them are expensive. I could have opted for Mang Inasal or Andoks but I was in Boracay, I couldn’t eat the same food that I can easily order here in Cebu. For late lunch, I tried Bite Club burgers.

Burgerella with Blue Cheese Cream and Chunky Mushroom & Cheese.

Potato wedges sprinkled in sour cream powder
The burger was a 7 out of 10 but I was never a fan of burgers. The potato wedges were perfect and it had generous servings. It was served hot so it was fantastic to munch on.
Because I’ve got tons of photos to show you all and stories to tell, I’ll make a two part blog about my recent Boracay trip. Ending this entry with my favorite drink in the island LOCO FRIO!

To join a race, the amazing race kind of race - Check in my bucket list.
Ayala and Cebu Holdings invited their tenants to join the Ayala Bio Challenge, a race they organized as part of their Earth Hour events. And because I’ve always wanted to join a race, I encouraged a few of my office mates to register. Miss Tina was skeptical that I could sustain through the race, so I agreed to do all her pre-race tests to see if I can do it. I had to jog and finish the rope adventure courses in Rainforest Safari Park.

Started the race knowing I didn’t have socks on (yes, my fault that I forgot) and it was unexpected that we were asked to take off our shoes and run a few meters on a hot pavement. Due to friction, blisters developed which made it more painful for me to run and or walk. I knew I shouldn’t stop and I was super glad that my team mates were there to support and wait for me.

The entire experience was fulfilling. Plus the fact that I was deeply touched by the concern and effort that each of my team mates showed. And I was glad that I was able to finish the race without giving up or wanting to quit. We ended up finishing second the last, because of my false reassurance of one pit stop, but we finished it on time.
Here are some of the photos. Credits to the Ayala Center Cebu facebook page.

Before the race started, we were asked to create a team cheer. I had to come up with one and had to recall all the cheers I made during highschool.
We lost to the team that had props, but I’d say ALIW factor went to our team! GOOOOO ISLANDS!

Finally, the finish line. I was soo tired but at the same time relieved that we didn’t finish last. hahaha

We won most creative in the bottled water broom making contest! We should be, we’re a creative company and we’ve got our creative director as a team mate!
We won JAY-R Cds. I love Jay-R but I had to give it out to one of our Ayala Boutique staff cause it seemed like she loved Jay-R more than I do.

After the race we were given dinner, it was a simple barbeque and fried chicken meal but it was one of the BEST MEALS ever. hahaha I was soo hungry from all the running and brisk walking.
This photo was taken after the race. Thanks to Islands Souvenirs that they gladly sponsored us with I heart shirts. Irene <3 Challenges

Inviting everyone to join Alejandro’s on its Grand Opening night. Two nights of good food, great people and epic DJs that will compliment the new look and even greater vibe of the Alejandro’s new location.
Looking forward to on the second night since DJ Distraction and Dj Jenn Rimaz will be spinning that night. Heard them play during the Lifedance Price Off party and their choice of songs and mixes impressed me.
So see you guys at Alejandros next weekend! =)
Here’s a map do you won’t get lost.
